The Bar

Opening times:
6:30pm – 11pm Sunday – Thursday
6:30pm – 11:30pm Friday and Saturday

We offer a selection of quality lagers, ciders and wines (also available at Formal prices), different ales on tap, a range of spirits, and a massive selection of soft drinks as well as an ever increasing and morphing range of cocktails. We also serve a selection of bar snacks, sandwiches and coffee to get you through the long night. In 2012/13 bar meals were served on weekdays and in 2013/2014 these will also be served on weekends, at least for a Michaelmas trial period.

If you’re looking for a decent atmosphere, and good company, where better than QBar?
Queens’ bar is buzzing every evening – even more so when events are being held in College. Always a great place to start on any night out, and a perfect accompaniment to a fast sweaty night at Queens’ celebrated bops. Look out for regular events, including Candle Club, and come along to our Quiz nights on alternate Mondays for all your trivial needs.

Every night is bring your own music night. Just ask the staff to whack your iPod in the player and enjoy your very own tunes (preferably not too cheesy – that’s what Cindies is for).

QBar is also available for the screening of all the sports matches you desire. Simply ask the staff to operate the big screen and make sure it doesn’t clash with some other big televised event. In the case of matches outside bar hours, contacting the Bar Rep (jcr-bar@queens.cam.ac.uk) should allow you to enjoy these too. Don’t forget – the bar must be returned to the condition you found it in when you’re done!

The bar is also always willing to host JCR Hustings and Open Meetings – and everyone knows just how EXCITING they are.

We have 2 pool tables, a table football table and a quiz machine if the banter around the bar isn’t doing it for you. Just please don’t abuse the pool tables/cues/the staff!

Our fantastically friendly bar staff are always willing to listen to suggestions or comments, or why not get in touch with your bar rep, Peregrine Dunn  (peregrine.dunn@qjcr.org.uk), and feel free to let me know of any ideas you have for the bar or if you’d like a particular program/match shown on the TV screens.

On a more uncharacteristically sober note:
Queens’ is a sensible college; QJCR encourages sensible drinking. Please know your limits, and if you make any mess (of any kind), please clear it up after you. Also, please remember that it is prohibited to bring your own alcohol into the bar, which is silly anyway considering how cheap the bar drinks are. If you are found to have done so, you will be asked to hand it in to be returned to you later, but if you refuse to do so you will be “Dean-ed”!

See you in the bar soon!
